VR Liver Failure Scenario for Nurses
This simulation places trainees in the role of a nurse caring for a patient presenting with symptoms of possible liver failure. Learners assess the situation, recognize key symptoms, and apply appropriate clinical interventions as the scenario progresses through multiple phases.
What Learners Do
Review the patient chart and perform a head-to-toe assessment, including vital signs
Communicate with the patient and a family member through branching dialogue to support clinical decision-making
Retrieve and administer medications as appropriate
Respond to a deterioration in the patient’s condition and determine appropriate escalation of care
Interact with relevant medical equipment and a simulated electronic medical record
Receive feedback on their performance during and at the end of the scenario
Platform & Flexibility
Delivered as a standalone VR experience with room-scale movement and teleportation-based locomotion. Includes a VR controls tutorial, pre-briefing, and post-simulation scorecard. The application was designed with a modular architecture to support future expansion, including additional scenarios or deployment to other devices and platforms.
